While I don’t disapprove [1] of the assorted public shunnings of Trump officials, it’s worth noting that this sort of thing is rocket fuel for the right-wing media.

Perfect ammo for their victimisation complex.

In more general strategic musings…

Overall, I think the Trumpists are trying to provoke the left until something snaps hard enough to justify a fully militarised police response.

So far, the left has shown remarkable control and restraint. However, as the situation progresses, the experienced activists are going to be increasingly outnumbered by pissed-off kids [2].

Now, if you thought there was still an electoral solution, and were willing to tolerate the harm done between now and the election, the best tactic might be to just try to hold a lid on it until then.

OTOH, if you think the electoral situation is already gone, the way out is to get a peaceful uprising before it all blows.

Which raises the question again: at what point, if any, does the liberal centre decide that (a) the electoral solution is a lost cause, (b) the lid can’t be held any longer, or © too much damage is happening for further delay?

.

[1] Fascist-shunning is good and proper, but it’s the sort of thing that needed to be done ten years ago in order to work as required.

[2] Although there are also a lot of kids getting a rapid training in activism right now.

The US Army is sworn to uphold the Constitution etc.

What about the National Guard? Are they sworn to obey their state Governors, or the Federal Constitution?

Was anything done after the Civil War to discourage state militias from resisting the Feds?

OTOH, I can believe it. I’d have been astonished if they hadn’t.

The corporate media is not on your side.

I would actually be unsurprised if Trump went into the election with some sort of Medicare-For-All-White-People policy.

He did float the idea on the campaign - “merit based” has a clear meaning.

As has been apparent ever since the election, the establishment Dem’s #1 tactic is gaslighting.

Does anyone know a way to read Twitter threads without the shearing pain? I have tools to remove many other fixed elements, to scroll without sheering pain between scrolling and static elements, but I can’t get these tools to work on fix painbackgrounds like Twitter uses.
