I’ve enjoyed the many, many snarky comments along these lines:

My wife is currently hate watching it (she particularly hates that they made all the openly intelligent, strong feminist characters in the show gay). I enjoyed the book when I read it, but it does require a lot of unpacking to point to what makes it so powerful because it is speaking to the actual language white supremecists used at the time (and now), which the show is the laziest take on what’s in the book.
Last night I was watching the show passively and really didn’t like the changes I saw in the brief section I watched and talking to my wife it seems like the show attempted to lean into the misogyny while pulling back on race to avoid putting a lily white show on air - but they seem to really miss the mark in what they do try too. Offred was always a passive character, but they removed the rebellious women from the show. Her mother is gone, the continuous hanging on the wall doesn’t have women, they made the oppressors more beautiful and more sincere about the issues they have with the society they set up to soften them.
EDIT
Hell, the show lost me when it made the fertility crisis absolutely real and not overblown propaganda like it is implied in the book.
I was curious about this for some reason, and I have to say Tess is being extremely dishonest. If you go to Bee’s Twitter feed she’s clearly a Democrat partisan, but she puts forth a lot of support for female politicians (especially Waters) - especially black candidates since Bee is a black woman in Texas with a lot of good things to say (I listened to one of her show’s episodes).
I was not really expecting it TBH.
This is incredibly ironic.

Oh look, another example of someone with a mainstream media platform finally noticing something that was screamingly obvious when it happened years ago:
And this is why I’ve been getting worried about regular Sinophobic articles on BB lately…
They’re swallowing the Radio Free Asia narrative hook, line and sinker.

And, called.
Although… Come on, AP, you have 280 characters. You could have fit her name into that tweet.
I’m amazed how easily people allow themselves to be team-sportsed into choosing which brutal empire to give the benefit of the doubt.
