End state: free Rojava, and perhaps a wider revolution.

Supporting: see above.

How: Make Erdogan think twice before invading.

I am no longer an absolute pacifist. This intervention helped defeat Isis/Isil/Daesh and helped delay Erdogan’s war. That is better than the alternative, and wasn’t contributing to the endless war elsewhere.

One for the military history geeks only:

Interesting commentary on German strategy and logistics.

Without the US-created disruption of the Syrian state, there would never have been any threat of Turkish or IS invasion to begin with.

The USA provides no defence for Rojava against Turkey. It was always a temporary alliance of convenience, and they were never going to directly oppose their Turkish allies.

The anti-imperialist crew have been telling the anarchists for years that a US backstab of Rojava was inevitable.

Here’s what maintaining the US presence in Syria would continue:

Yes, the pending Turkish invasion of Rojava is evil, tragic and should be opposed. But the US involvement in Syria (a) would not actually protect Rojava from the Turks (because the USA was never going to seriously oppose its NATO ally on behalf of a group of left-wing Kurds), and (b) created massive death and suffering for the Syrian people.
