Incidentally: it’s kinda notable that there has been very little mention of the fact that the defenders of the red granny in this photo were PoC.
Like I said in the other article: from everything I understand, if you want to get serious about dealing with gangs, start with St. Louis police.
Small and local is important too:
It was shut down eventually, but there used to be an annual motorcycle racing meet at the Mt Panorama circuit in Bathurst. It was the big event of every rider’s year; everyone showed up, from outlaw clubs to boy racers to middle-class middle-aged touring types.
And every year, it turned into a massive running battle with the police. It was generally recognised that the “gang in blue” was just one more faction in the fight on the mountain.
Racist POS.

Can you provide an animation warning when you link to an article with animated text? The Bathurst one has side-scrolling text.
I’ll try to keep that in mind. It is a very common video effect, though; probably most short video media would feature something similar.
Currently obliged by family obligation to be at a large and loud social gathering. Camera flashes and sharp noises all over the place. Held it together for a few hours, but I’m now on the edge of losing my shit.
Gah.
Every camera flash is a punch in the face and the noise is sandpaper on my brain.
Made it home just in time. A few minutes of screaming in the shed to get it back together.
I really hate being stuck in situations I can’t escape from.
Footnote on the Tony Abbott headbutt thing:
Abbott won two Blues for boxing while at Oxford, and was notorious for his use of physical intimidation during his student politics days in the 1970’s.
This is not the first time he’s been thumped in the face for political reasons.
