Why Not Call the Cops

You know, they don’t allow people to be cops if they score too high on the IQ test.

Because then they might question things that they’re doing.

Rereading this story, there was something I missed originally - the LAPF, the organization laying claim to the initials “LAPD” is a private entity, a non-profit that raises money for the LAPD. The story was stupid enough when I thought it was some part of the LAPD itself making the claim, but it’s not even a government entity, but some randos who took it upon themselves to give money to the LAPD and presumably have various connections to specific people within the LAPD brass that have resulted in them thinking they have ‘exclusive’ rights to anything.

Yes… and (per police “official” rationale) because officers with too high an IQ would be more likely to leave the force for better jobs.

Couldn’t get to the whole story on the link, but I figure that $390M is meant to cover the NYC municipality’s ass and cut off/mitigate lawsuit costs (see below)—and protect rotten cops and their enabling leadership.

In the past 20 years, NYC has paid out a massive amount in settlements/judgments related to the NYPD. According to an investigation, the city has paid out approximately $3.2 billion to resolve those litigations, with $2.2 billion of that amount being paid out in the past 10 years.
