Watching it now… so far, it deals with populism as an international phenomenon, not just in the US…

It’s interesting that apparently in Ireland “Republican” still retains its original meaning.

People here often make fun of Mr. Boslonaro, saying that every time justice is about to take action against him, his police radar beeps loudly and he is immediately admitted to some hospital. But the reality is that the stabbing he suffered years ago left after-effects and that his hygiene and eating habits (he said he swallows his food without chewing) could worsen the situation for an elderly man with fragile health and a delicate build.

He once had a blockage in his intestines after eating too much shrimp. His party members and his most brilliant son posted pictures of him in the hospital and asked on social media who wanted to kill him. Interestingly, an extensive investigation was carried out and neither he nor the party disputed the report that it was the work of a person with mental problems. Interestingly, he was hospitalized on the same day that the sentence that made him a defendant in the coup d’état investigation was published and is now official. It’s all just a coincidence, of course.

Yeah, exactly so… populism doesn’t necessarily mean progressive politics…
