And now for some good news

Could also be something akin to how some Republicans unironically love Rage Against The Machine but somehow entirely missed the glaringly obvious point of their music and their political inclinations. I could imagine that Trump just thinks Le Mis sure does have fun songs and doesn’t dwell on anything on a deeper level.

Are the mormons gagging yet?

I think he likes to see poor people suffering against the monarchy and losing. I’m surprised he’s not issued an order making the guillotine the national method of carrying out the death penalty.

And I always mix up the literary Les Mis with A Tale of Two Cities. Maybe I should check out the film version with Fredric March and Charles Laughton.

And now i feel like watching LM, AToTC, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, all of the 1930s versions. And now I’d like to know why Dumas, Dumas Fils and Hugo weren’t presented in literature classes in my high school!

For Dumas, it might have been the sheer quantity of work? Personally, I did like The Count of Monte Cristo, having been exposed to a graphic novel adaptation to start, and then moved on to an abridged version, and I really should put the full version back in the reading stack.

I remember in Honors English 10 & 11 that we had to read “The House of Seven Gables” (I do not remember it), Shakespeare, Amy Lowell’s poetry, “Ragtime” and “Ordinary People”. Oh yeah, and “Slaughterhouse Five (The Children’s Crusade”. I even found my book report on it!

FORTUN-ately, the home I grew up in was well-stocked with things we didn’t have to/couldn’t read in school.

Addendum: I hope you can view this; if not, lemme know, 'k?

I don’t believe anything he’s said. He throws out glowing superlatives as quickly as he vomits out insults, when knowing next to nothing about the targets.

If the GOP somehow obliterated/edited/reinterpreted the 22nd amendment in a way that gets Trump on the next POTUS ballot, that would mean that…

Yet another nano-second scenario.

The man is demented, and continually confabulating. Everything he says, he believes in the moment he says it, because he’s literally making it all up in real time.

An interview with Trump may as well be an interview with a Furby, for all the meaningful information you get out of it.

It was probably from a later re-print with different cover art, but most likely.

That reminds me-- I wonder if the Tramp admin has set up/is offering any financial incentives at all domestically to “bring back manufacturing.” Or is it all just Tarriffs tariffs tariffs!!

Your question seems to imply someone who understands business, finance, and international politics.

Yeah. That q was about 90% rhetorical.

I don’t know if this is really good news, not exactly, but it did bring me some optimism.

It is not necessary to be a young man to be a good soldier, just dedicated and brave. I will also take this opportunity to say that Whiskey Pete should go fuck himself, because he is wrong about everything.
