“Triple digits in parts of the state” is normal summer weather in California, of course

as someone who lives in Reno, yeah, this is scary stuff. it’s one thing to see fire tornadoes at Burning Man, where they now occur with regularity because the people engineering the big burns know what cause them and how to create them, but it’s another thing entirely to be seeing them occur naturally. it takes a LOT of heat to create them.
