Seriously, no badge?

Did I just get the Boing Boing All-Time High Score?

Looking at a list of default badges seems there are not many for receiving likes

There are some for sharing the love, and a couple for having very very popular links, but not posts.

Of course you can also make custom badges (like the BBS commmodore, etc) but I don’t have info on those

One of my fond memories from the BBS was from my first account (I wasn’t very active, it was an account of no account).

Anyway, Rob was still doing the creepy photoshops with mouths replacing the eyes and stuff. He did an article about Steven Miller that had an unedited photo, and I @ed him that it crossed the line with the creep-factor. He replied with photo of Miller with his eyes shopped out, just smooth snaky skin forehead to nose.

Rob is the best.

It was a joke, I resemble it too.

Should I delete? I can see how it might raise bad memories…

I was joshing you, but if anyone else is triggered, hopefully they’ll let you know.

(I am old, so I’ve let most things go.)

I can get behind Rob’s shitposting. His weird posts were often a highlight

I can’t remember exactly when i joined but i was certainly on the older Disqus board because i was a reader of Cory’s and at the time the two were mutually inclusive so i would just dip in from time to time to read his posts and even tried submitting some links. Remember that? I said recently on the other place that BB used to have a nerd cred that you would find cropping up in the most random places, it had a certain cachet amongst those who knew. Those who didn’t know about it or thought it sounded weird when i tried to explain it meant that i knew i had found the right place for me and over time all you folks made me realise how valuable the community was. I guess i didn’t fully appreciate it until i knew the doors were going to be locked in a matter of days which made me all misty eyed i tell ya. That was at the end of a very tiring and stressful work day so i was bit wrung out anyway.

Cory might have been alright about the copyright stuff, but he never wrote a book review that wasn’t stuffed full of spoilers…

He kinda still does! He likes to wax rhapsodic about the books he’s in love with. Hey, maybe he’ll even join us!

BB was great as a determiner of who I’d get along with. If they knew what it was, I knew they were my kind of people. It didn’t happen often, but when it did it always ended well.

It is very difficult to write book reviews, specially if you’re enthused about them.

I write book reviews for a radio program, and what I ended up doing in the end is to read some enticing snippets while explaining how I felt reading the book. But my first reviews were… shudders TERRIBLE affairs

I’m still kinda salty about that, i remember finding interesting news quite a few times and none of it ever made it onto the site. Oh well :man_shrugging:

I wrote a review on Amazon of one of his latest (might be his actual latest, The Bezzle) in which I accidentally inserted a huge spoiler. I went back and corrected it, but I have to admit, I was grinning while I did it…

The temptation must have been immense

I wondered about that. Never saw one past 50. Now I know.
