Bad doge, No Biscuit

Tangentially related, something I scream whenever a congress critter says something positive about DOGE.

GAO already does this you nitwits. How can you not know?

Fascinating program on NPR’s 1A on Monday. Talking about DOGE “Audits” they had this exchange:

Dina Temple Rastin: A federal judge called it hitting a fly with a sledgehammer. So even though they’re calling this an audit, you, as an expert in this for decades, just don’t think this is an audit at all. This seems like something completely different.

Corey Bretschneider: It’s something completely different. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and maybe beyond the scope of what you brought me on is, to me, it it looks like a domestic terrorist attack on the US government by people who figured that, they’re not going to get their way through the rule of law.

(Since Elsewhere is loving footnotes these days, consider these footnotes)

Corey Bretschneider. He’s a professor of constitutional law and politics at Brown University. He’s also the author of The Presidents and the People, five leaders who threaten democracy and the citizens who fought to defend it. (adding to reading list.)

Dina Temple Rastin. She’s the host and managing editor of Click Here. That’s a weekly cyber and tech news podcast from Recorded Future News.

DOGE and the entire Trumpy admin is looks like a domestic terrorist attack on the US government by people who figured that, they’re not going to get their way through the rule of law. If I was thinking of running for President or working on getting the Democrats back into power, Corey Bretschneider would be my first hire.

I’m curious to learn if SCOTUS distinguishes between Social Security data and IRS data after reading about this:

The IRS has long been a DOGE / regime target.

I don’t know, but crypto is long overdue for regulation. That won’t happen while Trump is President, obviously, but current law doesn’t explicitly cover cryptocurrency, so these issues right now have to be decided by the courts, and I don’t think SCOTUS will side with the IRS.

I mean, inanely quoting those numbers like they’re jokes in and of themselves is actually Musk’s best comedic material…it only goes down from there. Did you know he was born 69 days after April 20? I am kind of curious how old he was when he finally noticed that…my guess is at least forty.

Yeah, well, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop re April 20th.

Besides that, it’s a cut. Bill Gates may understand that it’s killing people with no purpose, but he’s still a billionaire and I think he’s still assuming that being a cut is somehow a positive in itself.
