Would you look at that? Three posts in a row!!!
Itās basically asking them to delete your account. It gets changed to anon and you no longer have access. I can still read, but tracking and everything is turned off. Though itāll be a moot point at the end of the week anyway. There are only a couple threads Iād want to read before it goes read-only so Iāll just do it anon.
Is there a jokes thread here already, like the one I had going at bbs? I found one on Mathematical Jokes, but that topic seems limited.
Iād like to replicate some other threads, but donāt want to replicate any that are already here
Oh, and anyone know if thereās a thread, like say Elsewhere Doings or something, for such questions?
Thereās āRandom Silly Grins.ā
Why do I Always Find You In The Kitchen At Parties?
Welcome, welcome, welcome.
Ah, thanks. Iāve even posted there!
Looks like a combination of what was āJokesā and āUnicorn Chasersā at bbs, but thatās awrite.
Thereās a UC thread here.
Just been there. Itās a proper bloody doom-scroll now.
Sadness abounds.
On the bright side, Look Where We Are Now!
Indeed it does.
Yup, not dwelling! I didnāt break it.
Iām going to anonymise later today, in case I need to disappear from TERF Island in the future. I know MI5 already has information on me, but I donāt see why I should make it easy for the rank and file fascists.
Which doesnāt mean much from this side of the pond, but we will do all we can.
Deleting this one.
Mutant here since the earlies. Thanks for thinking of me, MG.
Oh, goodie! I saw yr last posts were from awhile ago; V glad yr back.
From Mark Frauenfelder at the old placeā¦:
Hi all,
We chose Substack because it provides the best available publishing tools to create the Boing Boing experience weāve always wanted to deliver. After years of wrestling with aggressive advertising and technical limitations, we finally have a platform that lets us focus on what matters most - creating and sharing the content you love.
Our direct experience with the Substack team has been overwhelmingly positive. Theyāve given us complete editorial independence and the technical support we need. We maintain full control over our space and actively moderate our community to ensure it remains the safe, weird, wonderful place you expect Boing Boing to be.
We understand some readers have concerns about Substackās platform policies. Weāve thought carefully about this. Our presence here isnāt an endorsement of every voice on the platform - just as our presence on Twitter/X, YouTube, or any other platform hasnāt been. Weāre here because these tools let us build something better for our community.
Our mission remains clear: to keep the wonder and weirdness of Boing Boing alive for happy mutants today and into the future. We believe this move helps us achieve that mission while creating a more sustainable future for independent publishing.
"We just look the other way. "
Yep. Pretty much.
It seems that people still assume we canāt read marketing speech for the complete bullshit it is.
Crazy isnāt it? I think of our community as one of the savvier ones, frankly, and youād think that the folks there would be awareā¦ but I guess they donāt pay us much attention (or Mark doesnāt) or that they just donāt give a shit, and as long as they cover their asses with marketing-speak, itāll be just fine!
