I despise the excuses given to a family annihilator. It’s really rare for a woman to do this, of course. But if a woman killed her family (or just children) and then herself, she would be vilified. Non-stop coverage of how she was a bad mother and terrible person and everyone should have seen it coming. When a man does it, the narrative is all about how wasn’t his fault, it was his sick brain, the poor man! All the focus on him with little left over for his murdered family, and not a whisper of how it was his responsibility to get himself mental help.

@tornpapernapkin  FB is a cesspool and I’m sure the post about this is even worse than usual.

God, i so hate it that this term has to exist, and that i knew exactly what it meant instantly. We are so fucking broken. But yeah, let’s make mental health providers more difficult to access. :rage:

Pedos always get mad when a little girl grows up. Even more mad if she doesn’t try to get her sexy back for them in her tweens.

Oh no it’s just all the posts about his process and him “getting better” and knowing what it is to be born into a family where you have no identity outside of getting to fix a broken man who wants to kill you because he didn’t get an ego waffle and can’t be blamed for his abuse while you live on glass wondering if maybe the blood is making him less comfortable etc

If it was mean and vitriolic shit that’d feel normal. they sacrificed these kids a long time before he shot them.

There’s honor in murdering your kids and wife even for white Christians.

I have to assume the church they went to subscribed to the notion of the man being boss of his family. When he couldn’t control them completely, he snapped.

I think the fact that he killed everyone a few hours before the oldest was about to graduate high school is telling. Did the boy say “I’m out of here and never coming back” or something like that? Trying to get away from the danger, but instead it was the last straw.

This is actually what I meant by worse than a cesspool. Because it is

That family was held hostage for years.

Social media definitely makes everything worse.

People are trying to live their real flesh and blood lives in the compressed liminal space of a stranger’s fantasy.

It’s no surprise the output is dead bodies and broken fantasies.

(That’s not about all lonely men, just those who rage against an unjustly feminized society that supposedly forces them into loneliness.)

So toxic…

Men emit 26% more planet-heating pollution than women from transport and food, according to a preprint study of 15,000 people in France. The gap shrinks to 18% after controlling for socioeconomic factors such as income and education. Research into gender gaps is often plagued by difficult decisions about which factors to control for, with seemingly independent variables often confounded by gendered differences. Men need to eat more calories than women, for instance, but they also eat disproportionately more than women. They also have higher average incomes, which is itself correlated with higher emissions.

Previous research from Sweden has found men’s spending on goods causes 16% more climate-heating emissions than women’s, despite the sums of money being very similar."

The most powerful actions a person can take to cut their carbon pollution include getting rid of a petrol car, eating less meat and avoiding flights.

But efforts to challenge car culture and promote plant-based diets have provoked furious backlashes from pundits, who perceive it as an attack on masculinity. The term “soy boy” has been used by far-right figures including the US vice-president, JD Vance, and the self-described misogynist influencer Andrew Tate to present progressive men as weak.

Soy is a common protein source in vegan cuisine, but three-quarters of the world’s soya beans are fed to animals to produce meat and dairy.

The French researchers suggested the gender differences in emissions could explain why women tend to be more concerned about the climate crisis, arguing the greater personal cost of reducing their emissions could cause men to avoid grappling with the reality of the climate emergency.

What greater cost is it to men? In fact, it would be harder on women to reduce their emissions further, as they’re already pretty lean in comparison. For men, just stop listening to male toddlers like Vance and Tate and try one or two meals a week that aren’t centered around a slab of beef and you’ve already made progress (in multiple ways).

Masculinity so fragile.

Imagine walking around policing yourself that carefully, and constantly. What a weight that must be. And what a pain for others to be around too.
