Yeah maybe. What’s also crazy about Hawley to me is that he’s the senior senator from Missouri and he’s just at the beginning of his second term. I’ve mentioned this before, but I’m just baffled at how Missouri voters consistently vote for progressive policies while also voting for the least progressive candidates.
Yeah, it’s really weird, that… I think it’s that people like Hawley make populist noises loud enough for people to think it’s who he is… and he might actually really support such policies. But we also know we can’t trust people like him on social issues (anti-racism, LGBQT+ support, women’s right, etc). The average Missouri republican might support something like a higher minimum wage, but it’ll get sold as a package with retrograde social policies - “let’s just give this to white men”…
It does tell me that actual progressive policies are broadly popular, but that’s been true for years, I think. Social equity has become the wedge to ensure that white people don’t actual vote for people who will bring the goods, though.
Stop whining and do your fucking job.
This is in MTG’s district, just south of where I grew up… My cousin owns a leisure business up there, right outside of Cartersville.
It’s far from being anywhere near the worst thing in the budget bill but it’s definitely one of the stupidest:
The museum in Houston hasn’t even asked for the damn thing and have no plans for how they would display it.
They’ll put it up on blocks under a tarp painted like the Texas flag.
Under a tarp? You may be giving them too much credit. For decades the Houston space center kept their Saturn V rocket on display outdoors in a field with no protection whatsoever.
Because if there’s one thing Fetterman’s known for - it’s his dignified demeanor and presentation?
A lot of people will suffer because of this.
Yep. Absolutely… I guess they still have to reconcile it with the house? But I don’t see them not passing it again.
I hate this timeline.
Passage in the House will probably happen because the GOP are all cowards, but it isn’t a done deal yet. The version that went through the House prior to these changes was passed 215-214. There’s still a chance to fight back on this.
The House will finish this by Wednesday- So they can leave early for the Holiday.
