Iām glad that there are people following thisā¦
Hawley wants to raise the minimum wage. Hawley. Josh Hawley.
Maybe heās a pod person?
This is one of those people who if they told me the sun rose this morning, Iād check. So Iām very curious what his angle is here.
If I had to guess, fear. Missouri passed a $15 minimum wage and it was extremely popular. We also passed mandatory paid leave this past November.
Yep. He probably has his staff monitor the frequency of guillotine meme usage in Missouri and whenever it reaches a predetermined threshold he advocates for something populist.
Remember āRunning Manā Hawley.
Although, I just remembered he was just reelected. Heās not up for reelection again until 2030. Maybe he has Presidential aspirations in 2028? I donāt know,
Heāll probably want to ban some people from accessing it, though. I donāt trust that asshole to not be fucking awful.
Also⦠letās not forgetā¦
So Iām sure heād have all sorts of restrictions in his version (restricted to citizens, for example). Back during the original progressive movement, there were racist populists in the Democratic who insisted on ensuring that only whites benefited.
Yeah maybe. Whatās also crazy about Hawley to me is that heās the senior senator from Missouri and heās just at the beginning of his second term. Iāve mentioned this before, but Iām just baffled at how Missouri voters consistently vote for progressive policies while also voting for the least progressive candidates.
Yeah, itās really weird, that⦠I think itās that people like Hawley make populist noises loud enough for people to think itās who he is⦠and he might actually really support such policies. But we also know we canāt trust people like him on social issues (anti-racism, LGBQT+ support, womenās right, etc). The average Missouri republican might support something like a higher minimum wage, but itāll get sold as a package with retrograde social policies - āletās just give this to white menāā¦
It does tell me that actual progressive policies are broadly popular, but thatās been true for years, I think. Social equity has become the wedge to ensure that white people donāt actual vote for people who will bring the goods, though.
Stop whining and do your fucking job.
This is in MTGās district, just south of where I grew up⦠My cousin owns a leisure business up there, right outside of Cartersville.
Itās far from being anywhere near the worst thing in the budget bill but itās definitely one of the stupidest:
The museum in Houston hasnāt even asked for the damn thing and have no plans for how they would display it.
