As much as I hate that man for his central role in systematically dismantling our democracy over the last couple of decades (and he’s done a LOT) I shudder at the thought that whoever eventually replaces him could be even worse. He was one of only three Republican votes against confirming Hegseth so he’s only like 99.9% aligned with Trump, vs. the 110% alignment that we may get from whoever gets elected to his seat next. Yeah, maybe it will be a Democrat if voters get mad enough, but Kentucky would not be easy to flip.
So we all think Hegseth pushed him?
Ain’t nothin’ gonna be easy at this point. They have gummed the mechanism to the point that any motion forward is going to come at great effort or not at all. I’ll take what opportunities we can get.
I bet Mitch has been staying away from windows these days, that’s all I’m saying.
Kentucky has elected a Democratic governor twice in a row, though. A Democrat running for the Senate should be able to be competitive.
Sadly, Kentucky changed the law after Mitch’s unexpected OS reboot so the governor doesn’t get to appoint someone to fill U.S. Senate vacancies anymore. The absent senator’s party does
The text I put in is the whole post, so you’re just missing the responses.
Ugh. Does that mean we all should actually hope that the guy doesn’t kick the bucket until after the 2026 Senate election? Difficult to wish that guy well. But there are some other non-fatal medical conditions I can get behind.
I refuse to wish for his health or well being. It would be nice to see him in a situation where he’s not well enough to work, but still well enough that he believes he will be able to before his term is up, though. I’ll give him that exact amount of goodwill.
It still makes no sense in context. I don’t know who “Me” or “Betty” is.
I understand why the user may have placed limits on their account, but I can’t even see that this person actually posted what you lifted from them. It’s frustrating.
More of that sort of thing please!!
Put that out on Facebook; nobody will know otherwise.
I’m guessing some MAGA pushed him.
Also, he’s entirely responsible for the current state of the affairs, so I hope he’s in real fucking pain.
Yep. They’re practicing their defenestration skills with enemies on stairs. Baby steps, as it were.
A real filibuster. It’s about time.
I hope so, but the reporting I’ve seen is describing it as a “30-hour talkathon.” So apparently it has a planned ending time rather than going on indefinitely.
Update:
Per this article that describes what went down apparently old-school filibusters aren’t allowed anymore for presidential nominees after a rule change 12 years ago.
