I have a platinum and diamond ring that I want to sell. Currently the original diamond is out of the setting and there is an emerald there instead. However, it could easily be re-set (or I can sell with both stones). I read up a little and it seems like the best way to sell this is Craigslist/Facebook. Has anyone sold a ring this way, or have any other ideas? I long ago lost the certificate for the stone, but it was GIA and it was a nice, clean diamond.

Maybe get it appraised by a jeweler first? Get the CCC certified, so that the buyer has more than just your word on the value of the diamond.
Obviously, it’ll be worth more if you sell it directly (as first-sale diamonds are horrifically overpriced), but the estimate they give you for its value might be useful as well.
