I basically created this thread for Charles Mudede.
I didn’t feel this way growing up in ruralandia, but the faculty did.
Class uses culture to separate their pools of livestock… but they exult so much in being above culture, especially codified by law, that they expose their own crimes.
(No Mudede this time)
Not sorry:
Mark Cuban can eat a cigar.
Boy, did we screw up!” Koch writes. “What a mess!” He now wants to work together with Democrats and liberals like the American Civil Liberties Union, the LeBron James Family Foundation, and Democratic state legislative campaigns.
A cynic might argue that’s he’s still interested in playing kingmaker, and that means buying people to the left of center.
I’m surprised he’s not demanding refunds.
Are you asking, “When will that guy switch off, already?”
Good luck, and there are plenty more in the pipeline behind him. We have to put all of our giga-rich in check.
Hah, golly, shucks. We’ve severely threatened the entire constitutional underpinnings of our nation. Boy, are our faces red!
But we want to continue to push for our own selfish objectives by any means possible!
This is the country we’re living in:
That we’ve been living in. Sweet jumping Christ.
The worse part for me - I dunno about anyone else - is the utter helplessness I feel.
Know why I wanna get rich and famous? So I can live comfortably and use the leftover funds AND whatever influence I may have to obtain positive change for my fellow humans.
Pretty lame, eh?
That idea is, I think, a common fantasy. It’s a trap.
I need to find a really good therapist, then, or SOMEone, because now I feel like I’m never going to get better.
I think it’s only a trap if you count on it, or live your life expecting it. As an idle fantasy, it’s probably not harmful. In fact, I think it’s kind of a good thing, because it’s a sign of a person who can think beyond themselves, who is generous at heart.
I remember having a conversation with someone about it a few years back, when they said, “oh I’d never want to win that much money.” I said, “I do, because after establishing nest eggs for myself and my family, I’d have all kinds of fun blowing the remainder on charities, scholarship funds, angel investments, you name it.”
Money isn’t the only way someone can do good in the world-- there’s spending your time, using your talents, etc.-- but it can certainly accomplish a lot, if spent well.
There’s always the possibility that the author is reading too much into the film, but,
