Did Somebody Say "Star Trek"?

And who was the host when she saw McCoy? She said something about McCoy having great hands, so you know that Dax host was getting some, too.

I guess that might have been the pre-Kurzon host or even the one before that? But yeah, she was getting some action too!

Emony Dax, the gymnast.

ETA: This makes me wonder how the Olympics is organized and judged in a multiplanetary society. I mean, even if you’re objectively the best human swimmer there’s got to be someone from an amphibian planet who is better just because of the way their species evolved, right?

If you look closely those spots are really hash marks.

Star Trek using body horror as a commentary on colonialism…

I’m starting to see the Borg as conversion therapy and compcis/comphet culture.

You should write a paper about that… it’s got some legs!

But the Borg aren’t that evil.

I think that The Orville proved that the world needed Lower Decks. And Lower Decks delivered.

The only fake Trek that was as good as Real Trek is Galaxy Quest!

I would never argue that The Orville is as good as real Trek! Just that it showed the people who greenlight shows that people would watch if they made a comedy-Trek that still told serious stories. And Lower Decks elevated the form to much more than Orville could ever be, but Orville cleared the path.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me about George Takei is how fully he’s lived out the last couple decades of his life at an age when most people are in their retirement years. Coming out publicly at 68, getting married at 71, taking a musical to Broadway at 78, writing a New York Times bestseller at 82… he even managed to bridge the nerd fandoms by being the first prominent actor to play roles in both Star Trek and Star Wars.

This is a person who really took the Vulcan greeting to heart.

I’m wondering how folks feel about this ongoing series from Roddenberry Archive?

Here’s the latest one. Lots of deepfake. Might make you cry (or fume).

I’m actually ok with this as it involves the actual actors (where possible). It also seems to say alot without dialogue if that makes sense.
