I have two Star Trek toys that I really enjoy. One is fairly old but was slightly ‘cutting edge’ at the time I bought it - a TNG era heavy metal combadge that chips, set with 2 pins on the back to put on your shirt (which will flop down because this thing weighs a ton). Nowadays they have lots of them, but this one I got decades ago and it’s solid metal and is set into a part that slides, triggering the TNG chirp. I think it was my third ebay purchase long ago when everyone else was buying Beanie Babies.
I also have a TOS era communicator that makes all the sounds and has the spinny circle bit. Was on a trip in Europe in 2015 and saw it at a bookstore for $5 and snagged it. It’s crazy light and thin compared to the ones they sell now. I’m guessing it was some bootleg thing but it’s fun.
I know my nieces and nephews have never figured out what they are, when they peruse my collectable shelves. They also don’t get the small vase filled with sonic screwdrivers. Someday I’ll find the good River Song one.
