well i, for one, wish that their idea of “Teh Rapture” would actually take them all away and then we can get on with cleaning the place up.
maybe redecorate. some rainbows and such.
and we’ll all have a giant party!
yeah, then i woke up…
That made me chuckle. There’s a person down the street who has that shown on their TV every morning when we walk by. I confess that my first thought when I first saw it: “Well at least it’s not Fox.”
I really don’t think Trump is that calculating - his personality defects get in the way - and the Republicans seem willing to rubber stamp whoever he wants to appoint, e.g. even Gaetz’s colleagues who hate him are voicing approval of him as AG. I don’t think there are enough Republicans willing to stand against Trump left to pose any real challenge to any of his appointments.
That might be part of it, but insiders in his first administration talked about how Trump loved pitting people against each other, creating conflict for the sake of having drama, as if it was all a reality tv show. Apparently it amuses him. Also, Trump will do whatever he can to profit off things, and I suspect without any consideration for hiding it, at this point. He was pretty blatant the first time, and now he’s got impunity.
Yeah, Gaetz being the poster boy for this dynamic - the ethics committee report on his sex trafficking of a minor goes away, so Gaetz not only avoids legal consequences but even anyone declaring that it happened, so his political future is unclouded. Trump has their loyalty, even though most don’t even like him, because they’re worthless losers (who might even go to jail) without Trump’s support. Their competence (or lack thereof) isn’t even relevant to Trump. But of all the loyal losers Trump could have picked, many of his picks promise maximum drama. (Again, Gaetz in particular.)
The general lack of competency in Trump’s choice of cabinet members may have something to do with truly competent (intelligent; forward-looking) people not wanting to have anything to do with him. This assumes Trump’s advisors had intentionally approached competent prospects while Trump would not. He may see competency as a sign of potential disloyalty.
Those are just book 2 capitalists. Maybe I need a dependency chart edition of Capital book 4 (Marx.)
…I mean, that’s the victory condition: I unsub from Netflix, they take your film ideas and start organizing, then an intellectually humble Mike Johnson swears in the Harris Admin. (By Jan. 20 please.)

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace on Monday introduced a resolution requiring all individuals in the Capitol complex to use bathrooms matching their gender assigned at birth, a move that could spark controversy as the first openly transgender House member prepares to take office.
My feeling is that there have to be “competent fascists” (to the degree that phrase makes any sense) eager to be part of this administration (they were caught off guard the last time, but they know what he is now and were ready for this). These choices do suggest that what Trump values here isn’t competency, especially competency in enacting an ideological agenda - Trump’s agenda is entirely self-serving, rather than ideological. And sure, the agenda of fascist ideologues have overlap with Trump’s agenda, particularly in finding ways to give Trump authoritarian power, but that’s not his primary selection criteria for these positions.
Anybody competent would observe that T**** throws his coterie under the bus at the slightest whim and never pays up - and I don’t just mean $. There are arguably a couple people who have got what they wanted - e.g. Paul Ryan and his tax cuts - but they get their due and get out. Run while they can. Anyone who stays in his environs eventually is burned.
Miller seems to get whatever he wants.
Looks like it’ll be time to get a few thousand people to visit the Capitol wearing “Kiss Me, I’m Transgender” t-shirts.
It is true, however, that the King intended to wear the star in case the Danish Jews were forced to do so. In his personal diary, he wrote this entry: “When you look at the inhumane treatment of Jews, not only in Germany but occupied countries as well, you start worrying that such a demand might also be put on us, but we must clearly refuse such this due to their protection under the Danish constitution. I stated that I could not meet such a demand towards Danish citizens. If such a demand is made, we would best meet it by all wearing the Star of David.”
Trump’s pick to run the FCC has told us what he plans: TikTok ban, space broadband, and Section 230 reform
She’s going to hate it when the trans guys have to use the women’s restroom.
PublicSquare, for example, gets the bulk of its revenue as a sort-of Klarna-like fintech for guns, which some have dubbed “shoot now, pay later”. The firm acquired anti-abortion nappy brand Everylife last year, which was co-founded by Republican strategist Nick Ayers.
“Shoot now, pay later” sounded famlliar:
‘I’m gonna get me another job, I’m going to start saving some money, and you’re a dead man. You’d better hope I can’t get no bullets on layaway.’
