Now that the worst that could happen has happened, here’s a place for keeping track of how the US and the world are (already) changing as a result. New, often awful things are happening, and tracking them might help us deal with them.
For example, many men, and even boys, are saying the same awful, disgusting, traumatizing phrase to women, and girls.
A meme, perhaps inappropriate, and at any rate violent, created in reponse.
That link was heartbreaking.
Cruelty is the point
"The unfortunate reality of electing a president who, historically, has embraced and at times encouraged hate, is unfolding before our eyes,” NAACP CEO Derrick Johnson said. “These messages represent an alarming increase in vile and abhorrent rhetoric from racist groups across the country, who now feel emboldened to spread hate and stoke the flames of fear that many of us are feeling after Tuesday’s election results.”
That gives me very brexity vibes…
Apparently Lone Skum sat in on Trump’s call with Zelensky, today. I can’t even…
(But what’s the betting his satellite network’s use by Ukraine was under discussion? I wouldn’t put it past those two fuckers to be starting the blackmail.)
Minor compared to some of the other things going on, but there was a dude stomping around Home Depot this morning wearing a bright red shirt with the phrase “Get Over It” in white letters on it. I almost think he was looking to get a reaction from someone, but I didn’t give him the satisfaction.
Saw one of those when we went out to dinner tonight. Went nicely with his prophet beard
Console prices could skyrocket by 40% due to Donald Trump’s victory; tariffs could make a PS5 Pro cost up to $1000 USD, experts say
U.S. president’s proposal could impact gaming hardware costs
According to reports, the tariffs on Chinese imports would affect the cost of laptops, which could see prices increase by nearly 50%. Gamers also have reason to be concerned, as consoles could experience a similar increase. It’s estimated that prices could rise by around 40%.
From Trump’s perspective, the fixed tax would help boost the U.S. manufacturing industry. However, it would impact the prices of products from China. In response, the Consumer Technology Association conducted a study to simulate and measure the potential impact of a 60% base tariff on electronics like consoles, computers, smartphones, and more.
The study concluded that the measure would have an immediate impact on prices for all Chinese imports in the U.S. As a result, this increase could affect other markets, as the price hike would be passed on to consumers.
Strikes me that this can go here, too…
