For some it’s going to be the political differences… Harris ran to the center and worked to appeal to centrists and moderate republicans, especially the last month of the election. Whether or not that made the difference, I honestly don’t know. Did Bynun’s district go for Harris, if so, by how much compared to Bynun’s totals. If there is a difference in the numbers, that could be evidence of the whole ticket spltting based on populist concerns about Harris not being progressive enough (or running progressive enough) or it could be evidence of some sort of tampering…

Yes, but he was still elected to the next congress. This was about ending the investigation, I think. That is done. He got off for rape of minor and will be back in office in January.

how about no… he might go down in flames, but he could have done irreparable harm before that. Better for him not to have the chance to do any damage… 
We got to do whatever we can to protect our institutions as they stand if we hope to rebuild from the damage about to be done by these vicious assholes.

Just his nomination alone was already doing serious and lasting damage to the Justice Department by encouraging serious professionals to retire or look for work elsewhere ASAP. While there’s no chance that Trump will nominate someone good for the job there are still different levels of bad and this guy was a shockingly bad candidate.

Given Trump’s predilection for appointing TV personalities to his cabinet I suppose he could always go with Judge Judy to lead the DoJ, but she’s probably too qualified.

I don’t think congressional ethics investigations follow the rules of double jeopardy. If he tries to re-enter the House, he has a LOT of enemies in the Republican Party. They’ll just pick the investigation/report right back up again. And if he pulls that stunt, I would expect a Dem who has access to the report to just read it into the record.
I don’t think it can be effectively suppressed at this point.
