^^That part, right there!!!^^^
Great idea… I’ll do that later on.
Also a good idea, though I don’t know if sending it to mine would do much…
Though, with Musk holding treasury hostage, how much of that funding that people need is going to get held up anyway. I don’t know if there is going to be much of a difference at this point…
Agreed. Not another one should get through.
Oh, good. A press conference. I’m glad they are doing something.
Meanwhile, Rubio has just become the acting head of USAID and has accused the agency of “insubordination”.
Non te serviam, motherfucker.
Hail Eris.
They’re doing more than a press conference. That press conference happened after Democratic lawmakers were denied entry to USAID offices by security. They’re now working on filing lawsuits to get Elon and his boy band out of USAID and restore the agency.

I can think of other ways to get inside. How about… a bulldozer?
Much quicker that lawsuits, which seem like a pretty slow way to go after someone who’s known for moving fast and breaking things.
On average, FFP {Food for Peace) said in a 2017 brochure that the United States buys back $2 billion in crops to send to areas across the globe.
The Kansas Farmers Union has warned that the recent disruptions to FFP could eliminate an entire market for Kansas farmers.
“It’ll certainly be an economic hit to Kansas Farmers,” Nick Levendofsky with the Kansas Farmers Union said. “Commodity prices are at an all-time low, and farmers are struggling.”
Do we have a FAFO or a “I didn’t think the leopards would eat my face” thread?
Do you think that economic hit will be at least as bad as the tuberculosis outbreaks happening in Kansas? Why have one major disaster when you can have a dozen, right?
Hey I mean there’s all the schadenfreude we can have at those other countries who needed that food now. Food instability is going to be so nice globally. But at least we can all laugh at some percentage of farmers whose finances will be ruined because we can presume we know their votes and intentions!
It’s safe to say people in Kansas probably underestimated how little regard for them Musk and Trump would have even if they didn’t vote this in.
It’s just another mind-numbingly stupid drop in the bucket, but: The people who want to shut down the US’s soft power organizations and the people complaining about China’s soft power are the same people.
I actually got a response from the Oregon DOJ to my request that they enforce Oregon privacy law against Elno and DOGE:
From Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield: “We are deeply concerned about recent developments regarding Elon Musk’s involvement in accessing sensitive U.S. Treasury data—including the personal and private information of millions of Oregonians. This specifically is targeting the department’s payment system, which sends out money on behalf of the entire federal government.
The fact that The Department of Government Efficiency, which is a politically appointed team, not a governmental agency, has access to the Treasury’s payment system is alarming and unprecedented. There is no justifiable reason for this level of access to have been granted.
We are monitoring the situation very closely and will continue to look into any and all legal options within my authority as the Attorney General of Oregon to ensure the rights of Oregonians, and all Americans, are safeguarded. We also encourage federal regulators to thoroughly investigate any potential risks to national security, and hold all parties involved to the highest standard of the law.”
Our privacy experts are looking into whether there might be any violations of Oregon laws. In the meantime, here are other recommended actions you can take:
- Call your congressional representatives to express your opinion about what has happened. The Congressional Switchboard number is (202) 224-3121. You can ask for either Oregon Senator: Sen. Merkley or Sen. Wyden.
- If you are worried about the security of your Social Security number or other data, you can contact the three main credit reporting agencies and ask that they put a security freeze on your credit: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
That last one is a bit of a joke: every Oregonian is already getting free credit monitoring because the state was hacked and our SSNs were compromised.
I already know Wyden is on it - he’s been at the forefront of the Treasury protests. Merkeley seems to be focused on the anti-trans actions and the firings of the IGs.
My representative seems to be caught a bit in the past, focusing on election safety and fairness. Sorry, that ship has sailed. It’s great for some nebulous time in the future, but meanwhile, she’s painting the hull while the ship is taking on water.
Thanks!
Following the suggestions here earlier; I just downloaded and made hard copies of my current year benefit letter and the record of all my social security contributions since I started making them.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… what led to the downfall of Mubarak in Egypt in 2011 wasn’t the online organizing, it was when he shut down the internet. People had no choice but to go out of their house and into the streets to find out what was happening and to continue to organize.
