That, i think, is the ultimate answer to this. Racism plus misogyny plus fear of competence leads to where we are
Bingo. It shouldn’t take a perfect candidate to win an election like this even if such an animal existed. The Monday-morning quarterbackers are already trying to figure out what Harris and the Democrats did wrong but the real problem is that a majority of American voters are fucking horrible.
If you don’t understand why the worst Democrat is a better choice than the best fascist then I don’t know anything I could say to convince you.
I’m surprised that with all of the far right and Russian ratfuckery, I’ve heard no suspicion about rigged voting machines.
I don’t know why that’s even worth saying at this point. I guess I’m still in shock, and moving pretty quickly into despair.
Yes.
for your brother (i sent it to mine):
I think we need survival strategy threads-- individual and global.
I’m in pain, and chronically ill, so for me it doesn’t feel like there’s any point in individual survival without global survival.
Upon entering the subway today, I heard one very large-gutted worker talking to another large-gutted worker “…and I want to see all those doctors who are operating on under-age kids arrested and put on trial. Something has to change…”
NATO has always been rotten to the core. It needs to die and be replaced by something less harmful.
Horrible and incredibly gullible.
They probably think gender affirming surgeries are happening at public schools.
Just in case someone is wondering how this will affect other countries in concrete ways, this is a first analysis for the German economy under Trump. Was Donald Trumps Sieg für die deutsche Wirtschaft bedeutet | tagesschau.de
(All quotes translated but otherwise unchanged)
Trump’s victory marks the beginning of the “economically most challenging moment in the history of the Federal Republic” comments the president of the Kiel Institute for World Economics
The economic projections for Germany have to be amended now, “so that we’re talking a recession in Germany now for 2025 but also 2026”
The economists project damage [to the German economy] of —based on the scenario— between 130 and 180 billion euros in the four year period. That would be 4% of the entire German economic output

Right winger tells democrats to be more right wing. Yeah. Sure.
Yeah, there’s a lot of that going around. So the Democrat who accepted an endorsement from Liz and Dick Cheney and promised a cabinet position to a Republican (probably Liz Cheney) needed to be more conservative. I’m so fucking tired of this.
I am so glad that I have a therapy appointment scheduled for today. I’m gonna need it.
I’m not ok. People I love and care about are not ok. I’m discussing with my girlfriend strategies to get the rest of her polycule (all trans) out of the US and into Canada legally and safely. This is absolutely terrifying.
There aren’t a lot of 3rd-party votes this year.
So I don’t think this was because people withheld their votes over Gaza, over the objections of Palestinians saying Trump would be worse.
There does seem to be a big drop-off of votes though.
I think this was partly because certain people were unwilling to vote for a black woman, regardless of the issues. I mean there are the fringes – the Manosphere, the conservative White Evangelicals, etc. – who insist on strong male leaders, and evidentally, there’s a wider circle around them who lean that same way.
Project 2025, the DeSantis admin in Florida, etc. are about bringing sexist and racist indoctrination into classrooms and driving contrary voices out.
So they’re trying to sustain this shittery. Maybe there is a way to challenge it.
It has occurred to me that that could be the little secret Trump mentioned.
And behind him…
Let’s not descend into conspiracy theories
Welp, he’s not going to get any jail time, that’s for sure.
