Elections 2025-2026

Oh, I’m sure, if she voted, she voted for the most Trumpy republican.

This is the way. Every time they dare step out in public

Agreed. Seeing people going after elected officials for supporting legislation and policies that harm their constituents gives me hope. We have to keep sending a message to TPTB, putting them on notice that they will face consequences:

I’ve been hearing good buzz about him!

Also reminds me (hopefully) that the tremendous amount of worry about the House (especially the gerrymandering shenanigans) has been overshadowing upcoming senate races. Seems like a fair number of Republican senate seats must be seriously threatened, no?

We need to see what is left of the gov after 2 years of this shitshow, and what bullshit Il Douche pulls after the election results come in, but I am more hopeful after the recent special election results with Dems way overperforming, and fascists running scared from their own base. Hope springs eternal!

average Dem strategist: we must focus on bipartisan policies that undercut Republican attacks

average Dem voter: having studied the denazification of Germany, we must raze the RNC and leave JD Vance clutching a single wool blanket in a cell after we strip him of everything

IANAL, but (assuming it happens) are we not in a place to staunch the bleeding, but unable to do any repairs, as the executive and judicial are still in fascist control? Il Douche can veto anything passed, and barring a truly stunning midterm, we won’t have the votes to override. (Now there is a fantasy outcome for you!) I would have to think that if thete really is a serious blue wave, 2 years too late, the fascists will try something to neuter the will of the voters. They will have to. Consideting they have pretty much settled on “government by EO,” does Congress even have any power left, other than bloviating? News lately has me in a spiral. I just struggle to see a peaceful way out of this. I am certain that a peaceful transfer of powers is not in their plans at all.

Yes. Gamergate was fascism. Fascism was gamergate. No need for excusing it as “internet culture.” It was evil then too and now it has poisoned the games industry, poisoned politics, poisoned the Internet, poisoned our lives, and poisoned the next generation before it even had a chance to be born.

The poem should have said “first they came for women” but it was written by a man.

I’m not sure what this even means. Congress has exactly as much power as it has always had, no more, no less. And that power (along with the courts and the executive) is derived from the people. Part of the reason the Republican-led Congress violating their oaths to defend the Constitution is such a betrayal of the people is that it forces us to take the hard road, and doesn’t give us the protection we deserve. If Congress asserted their constitutional power, we could do more. It the courts asserted their authority, we could do more. But instead we have this ambiguity around the situation, which in many was is much worse than just being overtly aligned with fascism.

The people don’t need politicians to do everything for us. What we need is legal cover to do what needs doing. And that’s why I think violence on a wide scale is less likely during the next transition of power and more likely in the aftermath. Because there needs to be accountability for those officials who violated their oaths, and I suspect that they won’t be held accountable unless the people force the issue.

That is likely because she’s going to run for governor.

Good luck to her. /s

Yeah, it’s just that, sadly, she’s not quitting politics completely. Hopefully Wisconsinites are smart enough to not elect her.

Even though WI voted for Trump, state elections have trended more towards Democrats. From what I’ve seen, Wisconsinites seem pretty pissed at Republicans right now, but I don’t have any data to back that up. :crossed_fingers:
