“the future is finally arriving and it’s a stranger in the passenger seat of a car that someone else drives remotely that can take you where you need to go as long as it is in a small geofenced area and at the right time and it isn’t raining”

Plus it explicitly excludes airports. But who ever wants to take a taxi to or from an airport? Probably nobody.

I suppose all that has nothing to do with the fact that Musk has contributed millions to Texas entities that back GOP candidates and that support their agendas in courtrooms.
