Discovery would be interesting, Elon.

Well, the Brits weren’t exactly popular in India, for one thing.

Quite common first name before 1940-ish, especially if you include spelling it with -ph at the end (as in Adolph Marx) or French or Italian variants (Adolphe Menjou, Adolfo Celi, what have you).

I once knew a guy who’s first first name (he had five or six in total) was Adolf, but he was a von so-and-so and their family’s attitude was “fuck the Nazis, we’ve been naming the firstborn Adolf since, like forever and won’t stop now”.

Yeah, but they’ll blame intolerant liberals for the tow. No self-reflection that they are major assholes.

I wonder if red states will remove disabled parking because they consider it woke? :rage:

It is interesting to note that in the 1930s, Adolph Marx became Arthur Marx.

If you’re referring to Harpo, Wikipedia says it was by 1911.

Some of the comments on that article are just Stockholm Syndrome levels of delusion. Like this gentleman:

Dude pays $2K extra on an already expensive car for essentially nothing more than the promise of a feature to come later. Justifies it as “investing in tech development at Tesla”. (Who does this?) Never gets said feature and $2K is essentially wasted. Is fine with it, but hoo boy Elon and his promises, am I right, guys?

When you invest in a company you get stock- an ownership interest.

When you hand over money to a company and receive nothing in return- you were owned.

My post caused collateral damage! I’m sorry!! Forgive me?

In my defense: The Swastikar exists in more than one category. On a Venn diagram, the PT Cruiser (historically ridiculed, can’t get around that, facts iz facts) would (technically) share “JOKE” with the Swastikar… and that’s as far as the commonalities go if you don’t count a Venn diagram covering car names that start with the letter “C”.

In spite of the howling of the mob, the PT Cruiser works for you, and that’s all that matters for any car owner. My single-point data for the ridicules involves a friend /work colleague and his wife, both semi-professional ocean cinematographers. They have a ton of gear to haul around and, on that basis, they were happy with their Cruiser… until it started to develop electrical and mechanical issues into the second year. They were pissed. That I know.

Anyway, I wish you nothing but happiness with your Cruiser.

Well, it might help understand Tatsi’s strip, but then why would you want to understand Tatsi’s strip?

I guess he really didn’t like the name. A good decision in the long run.

I am going to consult my copy of the Marx Brothers Scrapbook and see if it says anything on this subject.

I ain’t laughin’ and I am known for a very dark sense of humor.

Ah, if only it were so simple.

Regulations, it has been said over and over again, are written in blood.

In some version of a libertarian paradise that Elno surely is working every day to make happen, regulations are… barriers to commerce? best left to the individual? an unforgivable crime by the NannyState? obstacles to profit? etc.

  • The NHTSA is gathering info on a Cybertruck crash that killed three college students in California.

  • The crash is the second fatal Cybertruck incident in the US, following one in Texas.

  • Tesla’s Cybertruck has faced multiple recalls and 21 NHTSA complaints since launching.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is probing a Cybertruck crash that killed three college students last month in California.

As vehicles get bigger and heavier, they also get deadlier. It’s a trend that has some concerned about Tesla’s new Cybertruck, a 6,800-pound electric behemoth with sports-car acceleration that experts say will be lethal to pedestrians and occupants of lighter vehicles.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk defended the truck in an X post last week.

“We are highly confident that Cybertruck will be much safer per mile than other trucks, both for occupants and pedestrians,” he wrote.

Some in the vehicle safety world disagree.

Michael Brooks, executive director of the Center for Auto Safety — a nonprofit consumer advocacy organization — said the Cybertruck poses a variety of threats to pedestrians.

According to Tesla’s website, the Cybertruck Cyberbeast model clocks in at 6,843 pounds, and can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. For comparison, the 2023 Ford F-150 starts at slightly more than 4,000 pounds, and can go from 0-60 mph in about 5.5 seconds.

Brooks said the Cybertruck’s extreme acceleration capabilities, combined with its weight, means that drivers will have less time to react to pedestrians, and collisions with them will be deadlier.

He said the Tesla Cybertruck will be dangerous to occupants of other cars, as well.

“Just like Elon says — If you have an argument with another car, you will win — so long as ‘winning’ means inflicting life-threatening damage to other humans on the road,” Brooks said.

Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.
