Given how long Musk has been a detriment to the company, it really should have already happened. Though maybe the stock needs to get down to a certain (really low) point before they start considering it. Which might take a while, given how Musk’s genius image inflated the stock so far beyond what was reasonable for the business itself. But the drop seems inevitable, now that the shine is off Musk. Even if Tesla stock just get to where it should have reasonably been, given their sales numbers previously, never mind the current sales nose dive, the stock would be worth a fraction of what it is. But there is that nose dive, and Musk has become so tightly associated with the company, and he’s rendered the brand so toxic with everyone but conservatives, means the stock should be even worse than that.
(I know there’s talk about how Musk is popular with conservatives, therefore the demographic that spent the entire history of Tesla denigrating its cars will suddenly start buying them, but they haven’t so far. Musk became popular with conservatives as he was losing popularity with the left, and sales have only gone down, so a tiny number of conservatives aside, there’s no evidence any of them are suddenly now going electric just because they like Musk.)
I wonder how fast Tesla stock can go down. Given the gulf between where it is, and where it should be, it reasonably would be dropping far faster than it is. But if it did, that would mean the market would be admitting it was wildly overvalued to begin with, which seems unlikely.

As part of this, vehicles are expensive, and Tesla has been focusing on the luxury market. Even if a lot of conservatives wanted to support him, how many people have the kind of disposable income to commit to buying a $75K - $150K vehicle, or at least $1000 monthly payment for 5 years?
It’s easy to show support for bud lite: a case costs $25. A wankpanzer or swasticar? That’s, like, 40 cases a month without a joyful buzz. Though both would probably result in questionable and unsafe firearm use…

Apparently there’s a $35,000 Tesla, now? But yeah, “I’m going to show my support by buying this thing I don’t want which is also really expensive” isn’t something that’s going to happen (except performatively, by a few wealthy public figures, as we’ve seen). No one is impulse buying a Tesla to “stick it to the libs.”
Ha, I’d say it’s too damn late for that to work! Not to mention that even before Elno was fucking up the government, he was showing his ass on Twitter and alienating people. Musk would have to take a vow of silence as well for there to be any hope that people would forget what he’s like.
