This thing has really blown up.
Sure, Die Welt has always been an unsavory right-wing paper published by a publisher that is pure evil, but until fairly recently their niche was that of the nationwide white bread middle brow paper too generic to offend the mainstream. Letting, ähem, colorful foreign billionaire fascists run campaign ads for a fascist party is exactly the sort of thing they would have avoided.

It’s not about training or intelligence anyway. Two billion people in india. If half of one percent of the healthiest and best fed sons are sent to study in the US this is still stiff competition. We don’t live with the consequences of all that hard competition in our cities and rural communities. Indians do.
The unspoken thing that Americans would have to create here is like a billion or so other Americans to compete with for these jobs to create a similar labor pool.
Fwiw I am pro-immigration like moreso than is politically acceptable these days to say.
I think work visas, student visas, and immigration can be really good. I also do not care about the “look” of American people and think there’s really a much stronger culture here than the right perceives and find the reasons for their insecurity confusing and irrational.
