Facebook continues to be evil, censoring news of genocide,
The US media spinning a false story that happens to portray things exactly how they want? Where have I heard that one before?
New: I wrote about Substackâs splashy new partnership with Bari Weiss, what itâs been like in the year since Substackers Against Nazis, and why you really need to get the fuck out of there:

âDemocrats used to leaning on stalwart news like MSNBC are waking up to a post-election hangover that isnât likely to fade soon. Over half of MSNBCâs total viewership disappeared in the days following November 5. Those eyeballs still havenât returned over a month laterâŚâ
Dame article today 1/3
âand the networkâs primetime programming now averages just 400,000 viewers.â
âLiberalâ media is dying because itâs in fact status-quo small-c conservative media.
We now have a chance to rebuild media that is truly for liberals. Letâs do that.
@mediaanddemocracy.bsky.socialExtraordinarily good newsletter today in @damemagazine.bsky.social from Max Burns.

Bingo! And itâs that because its millionaire talking heads work for billionaire overlords in huge corporations.
Paul Krugman, Nobel laureate in economics, author of the substack Krugman wonks out, distinguished professor at the City University of New York Graduate Center, and the author of Arguing with Zombies: Economics, Politics, and the Fight for a Better Future (W. W. Norton & Company, 2020), reflects on retiring after 25 years as a New York Times columnist, and looks ahead to the next Trump administration.
hmmmâŚ
the CNN/ABC business plan?
yeah. thatâll make you safeâŚ
Hope springs eternal.
Yep, I am one of those. OrâŚtwo of those eyeballs, I guess. Honestly, I stopped watching for two reasons. One, my mental health. I just canât right now. I cannot handle the nonstop, 24/7, explosive diarrhea of bad news. I canât do anything about it now. The election is over. So I just canât handle it. Two, I feel lied to. MSNBC, and other âliberalâ media gave me the impression that we had this in the bag. It was 2016 all over again. Not that more accurate polling would have changed anything, but I could have at least mentally prepared. And fuck, I could have physically prepared. I might not have moved to Missouri, for one thing. The media has learned nothing over the past 9 years, except maybe that playing ball with Nazis is profitable. Democratic politicians, for the most part, have also learned nothing over the past 9 years. Progressive policies and politicians continue to outperform predictions, but mainstream centrist Democrats keep thinking that theyâll gain power back if they just move a little bit more to the right. Theyâre insane.
Thereâs no way to know for sure, but I get the feeling Harris did have this until she loudly assured everyone she was still exactly that. Obviously I hoped sheâd win but her âI love the empire, I love Israelâ speech is when I lost any actual enthusiasm for her.
Yeah, in hindsight, her rah rah go America speech at the DNC was, I think, the turning point. That whole speech made me a little uncomfortable. And then when she started campaigning with Cheney, and promised to put a Republican on her Cabinet, I got real nervous. I was afraid that, if she won, she would return to the neoliberal policies of Reagan thru Obama and reverse the progress of the Biden administration. And I think a lot of progressives and other leftists had the same fears.
To be honest, I just cannot do the whole postmortem thing yet. âIf we had onlyâŚâ just makes me angry and sad. I see too many people giving up, cozying up the fascists in hopes of being a âgood one,â whatever. I know full well my ticket is punched whichever way it goes, I have too high a local profile to go quiet now. So I havenât changed my outlook, and will not do so. Goddamn it
Havenât posted that in a while. Need to get back to doing so. We did not go away just because Fucky McFuckface won. And those of us who have the protective privileges need to make sure that they know this. I donât know what comes next. But I know where I stand. And that I will continue to stand there.
Count me as another viewer who went bye bye.
Same
I often say âHope will kill you faster than cigarettes.â
I make sure I add âAnd so will despair.â
Only emotionless disengagement from everything that will or might happen canâŚoh no wait, thatâs actually awful too.
yet there, but for grace, go i.
