This one happened yesterday; my daughter said it seemed like half of her school didn’t show up - it was “dead.”

Note (relevant to the topic) this is an AP wire story, not local reporting, which I couldn’t find. Nothing at all in (what’s left of) the WaPo.

Exactly what merit is Lara Dump bringing to the table? I don’t think any job (or singing recording) is based up any of her merits.

is “nepo-in-law” a merit-based hiring category?
is blatant suck-up hire a merit thing?

When things become sane in the US again, the Fairness Doctrine needs to be re-established and modernized. It needs to cover all media and any “news” organization regardless of how it’s delivered must be untethered from editorial control by ownership and business management or cease presenting itself as news in any way. That includes not only using the term news in its name or programming but also in its presentation. No more talking heads with chyrons if they claim to be “entertainment” while pretending to be news.

“Chyorons” are the painimated side-scrolling agonizers, right?

Maybe those should be banned from public places, and from the public airwaves, because it’s not universally accessible if it fickingb includresc g0ci agoinyfxfyhbbzers.
