I think @Axolotl posted this (or a similar story) about this guy… Since he has an outside (WAY outside) chance of being elected… I then wondered if there has ever been an Irish Pope and… nope, doesn’t seem like that’s ever happened.

Probably the closest Ireland had to a pope was Cardinal ó Fiaich (o-Fee). For half of the 80’s he was the Pope’s right-hand man.

My mistake! This guy seems very similar with regards to Francis.
I do find the lack of an Irish pope interesting, given that the church in Western Europe survived in large part due to Irish monks traveling about Europe bringing works along with them.

Redfin reports that the number of unsold homes across Florida increased by about 25 percent from the past year.
As homes stay on the market, sellers in Florida are being forced to drop prices by around 40 percent.
A “perfect storm” is causing this including, oversupply, plummeting prices, and skyrocketing homeowner association.
Many fled to Florida during the pandemic. In response, new condos were built across the state. But now, Florida’s condo inventory is at an all-time high, with many of these properties now sitting empty.

Re the bell ringing part; I have a friend who’s mother used to be a bell ringer at a cathedral in town, and had a similar accident (she was fine). They always ring in pairs for safety reasons, and one or the other of them lost hold of their rope, which whipped around and wrapped around Mrs. D’s neck. Her partner grabbed hold of her to prevent her from being flung around the bell tower, but she had an interesting visit to the ER to check out the rope marks around her neck; “A bell ringing accident … riiiiight”.

Shoppers are indeed doing a guerrilla campaign; we started before the government or the stores cottoned on and started labelling things with “Canadian Made” or maple leaf labels. It’s very much a grass roots movement, but the “T” tariff signs do tell us why we might be paying more for something.

Following up this story about Florida’s 2 bit grifters, the Desantis’s:
That’s the exact amount DeSantis officials settled on with Centene last year. But instead of returning all $67 million to state and federal coffers, they sent $10 million of it to the Hope Florida Foundation, a charity overseen by first lady Casey DeSantis.
The money was then sent to two nonprofit organizations that aren’t required to report how they spend their funds. Those “dark money” groups later gave $8.5 million to a political committee overseen by DeSantis’ chief of staff in a series of transactions that some Republican lawmakers believe were illegal. How Medicaid is allocated, which pays for health care services for the poor, is highly regulated.
It used to be highly regulated. Kudos to the Tampa Bay News for sticking on this story.
