Target placed over his heart. Doing the shooting from 15’ away were 3 corrections officers. The bullets “largely” missed Mahdi’s heart. Convince me that there was no connection between the botched execution and Mahdi being found guilty of murdering an off-duty cop.

Firing squad mostly missed South Carolina inmate’s heart, causing him to ‘scream and groan,’ lawyers say

… to be helped later (if not by now) by the Trump administration’s reduction/removal of reporting and transparency regarding health and safety matters. I’m fairly certain that the Mar-a-Lago/CEO bribe-fest touched on that.

Women appear to be his target of choice:

I’m typically against long prison sentences, but this asshole is a danger to society and should be locked up for a long time. I’m not sure he’s a candidate for rehabilitation. :rage:

That effected theatrical swagger of his as he walked back to his car after assaulting them. Something going on in that noodle of his.

Looks like someone broke his nose for him. I saw his bloody face and thought, “Couldn’t happen to a better fella!”

He’s still causing trouble, even after losing access to his steroids.
Maybe they’re not yet out of his system.
Maybe he’s not 'roided out, and it’s simply a case of
cwaa
That is not someone who should be walking around loose, that’s certain. He’s violent, dangerous, misogynist scum.

Something going on, but not nearly enough going on. Like empathy, considering consequences, self-reflection, breathing properly, considering the profit motive and clear lack of morals of manosphere influencers, asking the universe “am I the asshole?”, asking Reddit “am I the asshole?”, and so on, and so on.

70-knot winds so far blamed for yacht disaster that killed Brit tech tycoon Mike Lynch

[…]
The
[interim] report [PDF] states that studies into the yacht have calculated that if wind was blowing directly onto Bayesian’s beam and the vessel was in the “motoring” condition – with sails lowered on its massive 75-metre mast and the stabilizing centreboard (aka the swing keel) raised – a gusting wind in excess of 63.4 knots would “likely result in the vessel capsizing, irrespective of any interactions and blanketing effects.”
At the time of the ship’s foundering, it was reported that the wind speed had suddenly increased to more than 70 knots due to an approaching storm. The timeline established by the interim report shows how quickly it happened, with Bayesian starting to drag its anchor at 03:57 local time and violently heeling over to starboard at 04:06 – just nine minutes later.

ETA:
70 knots = ~130 km/h.

Seriously, though.

Also, as much as it’s delightful to see mega-wealthy people meet their comeuppance from within the monuments to their own hubris, they really ought to stop endangering others in the process.

Also also, from Wikipedia:

Lynch was celebrating his acquittal for fraud in his trial in San Francisco and had invited lawyers, friends and associates to join him, his wife and their daughter, to visit the Aeolian Islands, off the northern coast of Sicily.

Also * 3, the next boat over (which was apparently undamaged in the storm) was called the Sir Robert Baden Powell, what is with these people.

Why hubris? Bayesian statistics, that’s how Lynch made a huge chunk of his money. It’s like a carpenter naming his boat, I don’t know, Buzzsaw or something.

The “hubris” comment wasn’t so much about the naming of the boat as its existence as a multimillionaire’s public spectacle. That said, there’s a certain set of “rationalist” “libertarian” that lionizes Bayesian inference to justify every awful belief and practice, and maybe it’s on me to have read into his naming a boat that way, but that’s what I did.

Well, statistically speaking… What are the odds?

Statistically speaking, 100%
