re: solidarity pledge

Is this even remotely legal? If an employee there refused to sign it, could they take the company to court after the inevitable firing?

Recognizing the health insurance industry and its vendors as an indispensable pillar of the American healthcare system.

Now there’s a sentence that’ll turn your stomach, although I’ll acknowledge that it actually is true. If we didn’t have such corporations impeding our healthcare it wouldn’t be the American healthcare system.

Yep. It would just be a Healthcare system like they have in most of the rest of the world-- a decent, humane one.

There are 2 pillars of American healthcare: patients and providers. The rest of the rotting edifice is held up, supported and funded by these two. And every dollar that goes to it costs the patients. I won’t lose any sleep over any fear or doubt this event causes those asshats.

Cops grabbed a guy in PA from a McD’s who looks like the shooter. He had a document on him railing against the health care industry.

Oh yes, and let me be clear I am very much supportive of the providers! While I can’t say all my doctors, nurses, and others have been perfect, most of my experiences with them have been good overall.

Historical folk hero bandits were often bad people. The songs and stories about such people are more about our lives and hopes than theirs

Yeah, if that’s him, his Internet footprint looks horrible, but that’s the thing: I don’t want RWNJ jerks to suffer under idiotic insurance companies, either. They may not see the connection between supporting conservative causes and being denied healthcare coverage or getting sick because the water table in your county was poisoned due to deregulation, but I do. When it comes down to it, I actually don’t want the leopards to eat their faces, either.

absolutely!
if we could stop fighting each other over [coporate] made-up differences, maybe we could take on TPTB.
i realize that is some high-grade pollyanna plutonium from me, but seriously(!), what does it take to light the fire under enough disparate people, of the many different beliefs we may hold, to actually do something together for a collective good?
what a stupid communist i am

that connection to Penn caught my attention, too, as that is where DB has been for the past 30 years.

for those who may not know from my gushing about him, DB is my Dear Brother, who did his masters and PhD at Penn, a professor of archeaology, and is now a reasearch fellow at the Penn Museum Near East Studies department
