I thought there was something about showing fake ID, and who shows ID at McD’s?

If you need ID to shop for groceries it stands to reason that you need ID to eat at McD’s.

I think the joke is that Among Us is an imposter game, as in one where you have a group of people, one is selected to be the saboteur (or whteva) and the others have to understand who it is…

I blame board games. How many killers got their start playing Clue as a child?

Since Covid, every Mc Ds that I’ve used in CA doesn’t have any employees working out front with the public. You have to use a kiosk to order food. You can no longer see where they prepare the food and if they wash their hands. I wonder if non-CA locations have employees milling about with the public?

(Full disclosue: I sometimes stop to use their restroom on road trips. I used to order a small coke or small fries because I felt like I should be a customer. Since their exclusive use of kiosks, I no longer feel the need to purchase anything.)

You know, I really didn’t have “beloved murdered canceled over social media posts” on my 2024 bingo card (or as an idea that I might someday be exposed to, ever).

“You can only push people so far, I think there is a line, and this country in particular has been hurtling towards it at terminal velocity since the days of Ronny Reagan. . . . Eventually people push back, with the barrel of a gun, in broad daylight, to near universal acclaimed. That’s just what happens.”

Radicalized by pain? Maybe what did it instead was an understanding of the murderous effects of greed.

Below is the short manifesto written by Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City last week. To our knowledge, no major news outlet has published this in full, found in his backpack when Mangione was captured in Altoona, Pennsylvania. We believe it’s newsworthy enough to share here and insightful about Mangione’s potential motivations.

“To the Feds, I’ll keep this short, because I do respect what you do for our country. To save you a lengthy investigation, I state plainly that I wasn’t working with anyone. This was fairly trivial: some elementary social engineering, basic CAD, a lot of patience. The spiral notebook, if present, has some straggling notes and To Do lists that illuminate the gist of it. My tech is pretty locked down because I work in engineering so probably not much info there. I do apologize for any strife of traumas but it had to be done. Frankly, these parasites simply had it coming. A reminder: the US has the #1 most expensive healthcare system in the world, yet we rank roughly #42 in life expectancy. United is the [indecipherable] largest company in the US by market cap, behind only Apple, Google, Walmart. It has grown and grown, but as our life expectancy? No the reality is, these [indecipherable] have simply gotten too powerful, and they continue to abuse our country for immense profit because the American public has allwed them to get away with it. Obviously the problem is more complex, but I do not have space, and frankly I do not pretend to be the most qualified person to lay out the full argument. But many have illuminated the corruption and greed (e.g.: Rosenthal, Moore), decades ago and the problems simply remain. It is not an issue of awareness at this point, but clearly power games at play. Evidently I am the first to face it with such brutal honesty.”
