No, and thatā€™s the point; I go looking for benign images like this:

And shit like that is what turns up in the search results.

Hence the name of the thread, found randomly on the net.

I was talking about all the weird images I encounter during my queries.

And as you can see, some are DOOZIES.

More examples of ā€œconnected devicesā€ as huge liability

Did you seen the ā€œfree IoT toothbrushā€ post on TOS? I fear weā€™re going to get these things shoved down our throats (so to speak) regardless of whether we want them. Iā€™m getting a CPAP machine soon and apparently they come Internet of Shit enabled, so they can get the information it records at the doctorā€™s office/manufacturer/insurer/hackers. Fortunately it also has a memory card that I can take to the doctor (maybe), so I ainā€™t given it my router password. I hope it works without it.

I have implemented a separate WIreless VLAN for any device that thinks it needs to talk to the Internet that I donā€™t have any controls over. I need to implement some better logging on that VLAN, but at least they canā€™tā€” get to my production network.

Now thereā€™s an Oceans movie. I could totally see Don Cheadle arguing with George Clooney about hacking the thermometer.

I take it VLAN means that the IoT stuff only thinks itā€™s connected to the internet, but is really isolated? I like that idea.
