Did you seen the “free IoT toothbrush” post on TOS? I fear we’re going to get these things shoved down our throats (so to speak) regardless of whether we want them. I’m getting a CPAP machine soon and apparently they come Internet of Shit enabled, so they can get the information it records at the doctor’s office/manufacturer/insurer/hackers. Fortunately it also has a memory card that I can take to the doctor (maybe), so I ain’t given it my router password. I hope it works without it.

I have implemented a separate WIreless VLAN for any device that thinks it needs to talk to the Internet that I don’t have any controls over. I need to implement some better logging on that VLAN, but at least they can’t‡ get to my production network.

I take it VLAN means that the IoT stuff only thinks it’s connected to the internet, but is really isolated? I like that idea.
