Coincidentally, this was on the BBC today:
Whenever I see some idiot complaining that comics are “woke” now, I think, “tell me you know nothing about the history of comics without telling me…” I keep wishing for a return to original Superman. (A huge benefit from Superman entering the public domain in 2034 is that we might actually get those stories. Probably the only way.)
I noticed that, a while ago, DC put out some alternate-universe comic (/series) where they tried to make Poison Ivy into a (new) villain by having her not be an “ecoterrorist” but a hired gun destroying buildings as part of some sort of gentrification scheme. It didn’t really work out or make sense, but that’s about the only way to convincingly villainize her, now.
For a while, the in-comic approach was sort of, “well, I guess she’s got a righteous cause, but does she really need to be murdering all these billionaires?” but I think the audience now realizes, “Yes, yes she really does.”
And 600g is extra large? I can easily get triple that at costco.
Sure, but who needs to fill their swimming pool with mayonnaise?
No idea never seen that but as far I can tell that was real at some point. AFAIK it isn’t sold anymore.
I think we think of mayo as something from America.
Highlander 2, the Sickening, There Should Be Only One
Highlander 3, the Apology
3 still wasn’t great, but a whole lot better than 2. My friends and I skipped college for the first showing of 2. We regretted it.
Highlander: the Series (not subtitled “The Continuing Adventures of Duncan McLeod of the Clan McLeod”, but it should have been) wasn’t bad, I thought.
