Brotato normally costs 5€ and is a silly time waster that is totally worth the money but the objective is no budget… and this week is free on Epic this Week.
Here’s the link for that:

Free until 12/5.
After that, the Epic freebies will be Bus Simulator ‘21 and LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga.
The LEGO game in particular is well worth paying full price for, but a steal at the low low price of “free”. It is good for some 100+ hours of gameplay if you choose to 100% it and like all LEGO adventure games, it’s very high quality.
No Gravity games is doing its “11 days of Switchmas” promo again this year (US Only, sorry)
Starts on December 9th, goes for 11 days. There’s a couple of catches though.
You have to own one of their games to start, but you can get one free by subscribing to their newsletter. To get each game in the promo, you need the ones before, so you can’t miss a day, although you can pay to catch up.
It’s mostly shovelware, but I purchased on of their games before, and figured hey, free games.
Hopefully this counts, no hidden charges here.
The Whispered World: Special Edition
Gog
Free to keep - Offer expires 2024-12-15
ETA: It looks like gog are doing an advent calendar thing, so there might be another free game every day until Christmas New Year.
Epic have started their end-of-year “mystery” giveaways (they don’t reveal what they are ahead of time), starting with The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria, a multiplayer survival mine-builder. (Rock, Paper, Shotgun called it “solid cozy survival fun for a group of pals.”) That’s free until the 19th, then they’ll be doing daily free games until Jan 2 or so, a mix of smaller indie games with some newer AAA titles mixed in.

That’s relatively new, isn’t it? Didn’t expect that to be free anywhere for anytime soon
Another free steam game, from Fanatical
Riot - Civil Unrest
Steam
Free to keep - Offer expires 2024-12-15
Yeah, on PC it came out just over a year ago. Epic does tend to include newer/bigger games in their end-of-year giveaways, especially games that have multiplayer (where having an active player base encourages further sales) or a lot of DLC (where publishers can afford to give away the base game and still make money).
Epic appears to have kicked off their end-of-year giveaway where they start handing out one game a day instead of one a week. Today’s offering is Vampire Survivors, which is an absolutely fantastic game I recommend picking up somewhere even if you don’t get it from Epic.

This game caused me to have “dog” as one of my categories in my Steam year-in-review chart. It’s adorbs.
Epic’s free Christmas game is Control:
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/control
I just got around to playing it earlier this year and it’s just a great game. One stage, in particular, is my all-time favorite moment in a video game. Can’t recommend it enough (along with the Alan Wake games and Quantum Break for the whole Remedy Connected Universe experience).
Free until 12/30. Expired
