Maybe we should make Traveller more like Star Wars.

Okay, letā€™s add a rebellion and a great civil war.

Sure, but can we make it darker and edgier? With all the communications problems, no one should know whatā€™s really going on or who to side with. And everyone can be equally awful, too.

Thus Megatraveller.

Besides the Megatraveller bujdle, theyā€™re re-releasing the New Era bundle.

Print-and-play (demo) versions of board and card games? Sounds interesting. Only drawback is that things are split up in separate files, so depending on how much you want to download it could take a while.

(Also, Catan is there as a category, but all thatā€™s in there is some coloring book pages and a small set of tiles to convert the game to an Easter-themed one)

In other news, Cards Against Humanity released a print-and-play family-friendly version:

I was really happy to discover tonight that Remnants of the Precursors is now in beta. Thatā€™s the one thatā€™s a really faithful remake of Master Of Orion - updated graphics, sound, and UI, but same game elements, no new features or complexity. So my next week of free time is now booked for my Meklars conquering the galaxy.

Iā€™ve already fallen victim to ā€œjust one more turnā€ and itā€™s over 2 hours later than I thought it was.

Word on the street is that GTA V will be free on the Epic store tomorrow. If youā€™re one of the six people who havenā€™t played it yet and need to cause some lockdown mayhem, it might be worth a puntā€¦

If anyone is into fighting games, Injustice: Gods Among Us is free on Steam, Playstation and Xbox (I believe via backwards compatability for the last one). Not sure for how long, but if you ever wanted to punch Batman in the face, it might be your best chance.

Thereā€™s still a few days left. Theyā€™ve raised $2.8M so far.

Thought Iā€™d already posted this:

Between these, 9 big bundles. Rather eclectic, but including Eclipse Phase 2, among others. Pretty sure the BLM ones go to the international one.

Just installing all the steam keys took up a good amount of time.

Hit me up if anyone wants Bioshock Remastered or Kerbal Space program

I have a corsair harpoon. Itā€™s a decent mouse, but for some reason, it doesnā€™t work on a macā€™s boot screen. Probably not the greatest concern if you donā€™t use a mac, but interesting, nonetheless.

One of my side buttons is currently keyed to sniper mode. I should just turn it off-- keep hitting the button accidentally, and Iā€™m not playing a game where it makes any difference.

>sigh< Sometimes I wonder why Iā€™m still playing Shadow of Death.

I havenā€™t been progressing much, just grabbing the daily rewards, fulfilling my quests, and calling it done. Today one of my tankā€™s quests was 10 rounds in Arena. The first five took me into Champion level. Once I get into Champion, I donā€™t do so well-- today I won 2 out of 5. But I wanted to videocapture one of the matches, since I beat a player above my ā€œweight class.ā€ (That doesnā€™t happen too often these daysā€¦ and it made me really happy.) Thereā€™s a replay option, where you can see a repeat of the match-- but over and over, it shows me a match thatā€™s almost, but not quite the same-- where I lose. I try the other match I won-- same thing. It follows the same pattern as the match, up to a point, then it takes a left turn at Albequerque, and it consistently shows me losing a match I know I won.

This argues that the replays might be generated by AI, not an actual record of what moves were made by the players and/or bots. (Which is interesting, but not the point.) I know itā€™s just a silly glitch in a goofy game, but itā€™s freaking me out a little bit. If it wasnā€™t for the fact that the wins show up in my match History, Iā€™d be doubting my own memory right now.

Such a weird glitch-- or maybe Iā€™m the weird one. But I think if I do play any more games onight, itā€™s going to be something different.

I took a chance on getting a few games in the Steam summer sale this weekend.

Slay the Spire seems ok, I got through the first level easily enough. Definitely one Iā€™ll play more. A good mix of roguelite and card-driven.

Hnefatafl is interesting, a bit like Terry Pratchettā€™s THUD, itā€™s an ancient norse abstract strategy game (try to get your king safely to the corner of the board or if youā€™re on the other side, try to capture the king). But my brain wasnā€™t in it. I lost badly. Itā€™s in a class with chess, go, shogi, etc. Been too long since I played something like that. Need to play when Iā€™m not tired.

Also tried one called AXYOS Battlecards, which is vaguely reminiscent of Magic: The Gathering, but set in a modern/cyberpunk alternate reality instead of fantasy. It looks like thereā€™s potential for a game there, but as-is itā€™s more like an alpha demo. Thereā€™s no documentation, help, or mouseover hints. Still I won every single game against the AI, not even knowing what I was doing. And no one else was playing it in the online multiplayer. Luckily that one only cost 74Ā¢.

Also got Gremlins, Inc., Plaguepunk Justice (where you play a plague doctor healing zombies), and Blood Bowl. Havenā€™t tried any of those yet. Leaves me something to look forward to.

Tried Skullgirls last week; seems an ok fighting game but the keyboard controls are quite difficult. Need to either get my old controller working again or get a new one to play a game like that.

Iā€™ve picked up (yet again) Kerbal Space Program.

The last time I seriously played it was a long while back, before the DLCs and the atmospheric changes. Also, the Career Mode save I finally started after getting my mods back to my preferred point has been extremely stingy with contracts, preferring things like ā€œtest such-and-such on an escape trajectory from Kerbinā€ right from the start. So, Iā€™m extremely happy with my recent win: Iā€™ve gotten a ship into orbit and back, splashing down reasonably close to KSC (I didnā€™t have enough Ī”v remaining to fine-tune reentry so I overshot by quite a bit).

Also juggling Hitman 2 in the rotation (which I got for my birthday), and the recently-released final version of Superhot: Mind Control Delete. Hmm, I seem to be preferring games with long periods of slow planning mixed with short periods of frantic panic at the moment.
