Ugh the phantom beeping; been there done that - it’s maddening.
I’d replace that detector ASAP if I were you. Better safe than sorry.

Which? The NG/CO detector that went off falsely, or the superfluous CO detector that died?
I fully intend on replacing the former (and I even think I have a spare from my old place lying around somewhere). In the meantime, I’ve swapped that one with the office/guest bedroom.
As for the latter… Well, just off the top of my head, I have three CO detectors on the top floor, one on the main floor, and (at least) one in the basement, plus one that I removed from outside the third floor bathroom because the batteries kept corroding, and the one that is beeping end-of-life. I might move the corroding one downstairs to where the end-of-life one was, but I’m not too worried about it, because “at least one per floor, including one per enclosed sleeping area” is pretty much the standard, and that’s where I currently am, even without the end-of-life one in place.
