To be clear, it’d have to be very clinical, with plenty of noncommittal "uh-huh"s and so forth. Oh, and with the doctor required to present information on other options to buying a gun, like Viagra.

That was before FDA regulated medical devices (in 1976). I wonder what kind of reception they’d get now.
Some time ago I did library research on various kinds of non-invasive tests of the mechanical properties of skin and soft tissue (for a bedsore project). One reference was a master’s thesis on a “penile erection tonometer,” a kind of band worn guess where that measured turgidity. The thesis was by a guy whose initials were M.Y., so the thing was referred to as MY PET.
