So a small eddy in the race to the bottom is the idea that a tax regime must poach the highest status corporations. We get that in Portland by default but employees already want to move here if they can find a place to live, so in theory the bigoted structure of a region like the Confederacy (and someday Chicago) would do well in the race to the bottom by not being a bunch of bigoted fucking fucks.

There was a shooting in the dead of night where I work last week. Student athletes in a drug deal gone wrong. I donât think weâre ever going to find out more, and itâs so incredibly frustrating to me that because the students are athletes, they will get protection and secrecy a normal student wouldnât.

This just reminded me of my Campus shooting (It was last century before it was all the rage)
As of two and a half years ago, the shooter was still in prison.
Not that it is relevant to anything, but even with all the recent shootings, I donât think Iâve thought about it in over a decade. And it was in my Dorm, just down the hall on the other wing.

Kinda tangential to this thread, but a bloke in the Australian state of New South Wales was last week sentenced to 44 years in jail for supplying the handgun that was used to kill a non-sworn member of the NSW police force.
Fourty-four years. For supplying the handgun. Didnât even commit the murder. And it wasnât done with an AR-whatever.
The point is: I canât imagine anyone in America, not even a black or brown person, being sentenced to that long in jail for providing a gun used in a murder. Or maybe something similar has happened in the USA and I just donât know about it.

Black men get long and often life sentences for crimes that are not them directly killing someone all the time. It is common here, actually.
It overwhelmingly happens to black men, even underage black boys.
