Gun Control

Because arming teachers is a good idea, and it could never backfire. /s

The students are shooting people? Arm the teachers!

What? Now the teachers are shooting people? Better arm the principals!

Aren’t they generally teachers who can’t teach and don’t like kids? Is this a good idea?

Well, if the principals start shooting people, then you just need to arm the Super Nintendos.

Police didn’t immediately say why Davidson fired the gun, but noted that he aimed away from anyone into an exterior window

Points for not firing at anyone in particular, but firing out a window doesn’t strike me as a whole lot better…

I think that’s why @chenille stated “Fool me twice” as a possibility. They have gone back on their word before when the heat was off.

Between Delta’s NRA program and the recent adoption law, Georgia Republicans seem to be digging a bit of a hole for themselves.

Lots of different feelings from that. The sense of something so far divorced from our world that your own mind must have strayed from it. A moment of transcendental clarity revealing a reality behind our own, as is said to happen before you die. A glimpse of some cosmic humor too dangerous to belong among mortals, and mortal danger too humorous to belong in our cosmos. Some pity for human-made parody which will always be an inferior creation. And finally settling back on frustrated disgust and contempt for how many genuinely want the world to be a wretched home. It’s a lot to ask from emoji.

I came away with a vision of a slogan, though: Grow the hell up you psychotic nimrods, before even more children don’t get a chance. nimelennar’s probably make better signs, but it’s what my heart wants to say.

KAUFFMAN: Williams is an underdog candidate for governor this year. And he’s tried to get attention by questioning Georgia’s efforts to lure Amazon’s second headquarters. Metro Atlanta is one of 20 finalists. Williams says he worries the Seattle-based company will make Georgia more liberal and undermine what he calls the state’s culture. Williams points to CEO Jeff Bezos’ donation to fund scholarships for DACA recipients.

WILLIAMS: When you talk about giving Amazon billions of dollars, and then the founder CEO of Amazon is giving $33 million to education for illegals, there seems to be a disconnect there between what the values of Georgia are and a guy who wants to give away tons of money to illegals to go to school.

The word “value” has zero meaning. Of course these latter day conservatives can’t say “morals” or “ethics” because they have none.

It’s just actual crazy all the way down.

Just wait until they piss off Disney who makes LOTS of movies there! Can’t wait to see how fast they change their tune when they are looking at losing that much money.

But but, they’re white!! They can’t be terrorists!!!

I keep hoping the red states decide to leave the US again. Build a wall around them and let them wallow in their religious insanity.

Yes we have and I weep upon hearing that story.

Yeah, no. I live in a red state, and fuck that idea sideways.

Remember that most red states are that way thanks to gerrymandering and voter suppression and (if talking about presidential election) the electoral college and party infighting and various other shenanigans. And even then, the difference is a few percentage points.

Yes, it’s primarily a rural/city problem, if you look at the red/blue maps by county.

It was enough to get an orange racist shitgibbon elected President. When I hear about North Carolina doubling down on gerrymandering even after it has been found illegal and in violation of the Constitution, I know that some states are beyond redemption.

I live in a red state as well and if they do decide to leave, I hope I get enough of a heads up to get out.

Obviously “the state’s culture” means rural/agrarian culture that doesn’t challenge Republichristian rule. In other words, the same reasoning that led Mao Zedong to launch the Cultural Revolution.
