Happy Mutants Food and Drink topic

Well that film was, for me and my mate (another cishet 50+ man who does the cooking in the house) absolute pornography!

Pizza memories…
No I never tried this.
In point of fact I was a Pizza chef as a teenager at a pizza restaurant called “Rivera Pizza Parlor “ in the SF Bay Area.

I don’t remember if it was Chef Boy-ar-dee, but I do remember my mom making pizza from a box just like that
Or should I say… “pizza”?

Edit: is that “Rob and Laura Petrie” in the ad? And why does she seem to be wiping her pizza on his sweater?

Copper cookware is unreasonably expensive. When you see a kitchen with them you know it’s there to show off… At least now. I don’t know historically how that was priced compared to other types of cookware though i would still imagine it would’ve been a statement piece for the kitchen.

I’m not sure when the historical inflection point was, but hammered copper cookware was less expensive than steel. When the work was done manually, copper’s lower hardness and better ductility made it easier to manufacture prior to modern machinery.

I noticed in our recycling box our old copper stainless steel pans.
Not sure if these will actually make it to a thrift store donation.
They do not work on induction stove tops.
Since we are thinking of a new stove,

There’s a cidery out here that has amazing label artwork.

They have a mythical beast theme. Lots of dragons - I love their Black Dragon cider (blackberry and dragonfruit). They have a cockatrice on one of their labels:

I am from Concord California, third generation as Grandfather ( my Mothers side ) was born there In 1880.
As a youngster I thought that “Concord Grapes” were only grown there.
I was wrong.

One form of it is basically thought to be beer made from chicken soup.

When period authors described it as “provocative”, I believe that’s 19Cish for “… it’s an acquired taste”.

Look at it this way: my kingdom in the SCA has a Guild of Brewers, Vintners, and Imbibers. These guys are serious about their brewing science. They’ve made alcohol out of everything you can stick in a bucket with sugar.

I have never heard of any of them, anywhere, ever, experimenting with cock ale.

(Maybe that’s just because it’s outside the SCA period. Yeah, that’ll be it. Of course.)
