A reminder that while Mastodon is the big part of the Fediverse doughnut, it’s not the only option.
Those stats are probably a bit old. My Friendica instance is still resyncing.
How secure is Friendica? They did have a cross-domain bug a year ago, but a fix was rolled out reasonably quickly. (But how fast did the site maintainers install the update?)
