How's the Weather?

man, i feel bad spouting off about the beautiful subtropical weather we have been having. currently 75F and windy. the days have been perfect temps to take the boat out, but the winds would make the open water a little “sporty”.
gotta live it up while it lasts, it will be about 2 months before the humidity and temps become uncomfortable, then another month or two before i can’t shut up about the unbearable heat.
i hope everyone stays safe and warm.
this too shall pass, right?

Well, Canadians are never happy with our weather; it’s too cold, too hot, too humid, too dry, too windy …

The wind is really strong. Some of the gusts are powerful. The weather underground says “occasional gusts over 50 mph” but it’s more than occasional

Pulled the lemon tree into shelter. Which was difficult alone, it’s in a half-wine-barrel pot.

Extreme fire risk and wind advisory.

y’all take care! dry grass and juniper bushes make hot, fast fires. in that wind it could be real bad.

It’s fine, it’s just snow. And the forecasted amount is diminishing, from 8-13 inches to 4-8. I’m content.

Meanwhile, in Australia, a Tropical Cyclone is bearing down on a state capital city, expected to make contact early tomorrow morning our time.

Also, Facebook blocked all searches about the cyclone, because, apparently, reasons.

batten down the hatches!
take down any hanging pots, bird feeders, secure loose items on porches, decks and lawns. and secure your garden hoses! folks don’t think about that one, but in a sustained high wind event, hoses can whip around and break shit.
ask me how i know.

A quickly shot video out of a neighboring office. Here is how it looks. You might have to turn the volume up for the full effect.

Minneapolis/St Paul

Monday: It was biking weather. I had a nice ride along the Mississippi. It felt like Spring, except no hint of green yet.

Wednesday (today): Last night we got the snow. 9.5 inches at the airport. Our biggest snowfall this season. High winds and blizzard conditions. Minneapolis cancelled school for elementary kids, and did an e-learning day for older kids. Metro Transit stopped the buses for a few hours this morning. I spent 2 hours shovelling earlier, took a break, and just spent another hour and a half to finish the job. And we don’t even have a driveway! Do I get a mug of hot cocoa?

(Photo taken through a window, storm window, and screen, sorry. For some reason my phone camera has been acting up and some of the best pictures I think I’ve taken turn out not to have taken.)

It’ll melt away in a few days, but it’s going to be sloppy meanwhile.

Oh no, thank goodness. Even after two days of shoveling heavy snow I’m very thankful that there’s no flooding.

It was finally well above freezing today in Montreal, the end of a two-day melting event that started with rain yesterday afternoon. Today it was clear, but very windy with a high of 44F/7C. Temps will dip back below freezing tonight and remain below freezing through the weekend. So, I went out a walked for a couple of hours since the sidewalks weren’t icy. All those piles of slushy snow are gonna need longer than a couple of days to melt, though. :mountain_snow:
