Karl Barth tried to write the problem of evil out of theology by reducing it to the “Schattenseite”, the shadow side. Not only is it inadequate but you can argue that much of the Abrahamic religions consists of attributing the shadow side to their deity. He was beaten to it by Blake.
Sometimes looking at the 21st century I get the impression that for some followers of those Abrahamic religions the 18th to the 20th centuries never happened.
