Another from the “Huh. I guess I never saw that video.”
I’m sure some of you have heard of this already but I just discovered the Eternal Jukebox, a web app that analyzes any song available on Spotify, finds places where the song can loop forward or backward, and creates an endless version of the song.
So far my best result comes from “Take Me Home Country Road” by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.
For comparison, here’s the original on YouTube:
The cool stuff I stumble across in my high meanderings:
Hopefully it’s alright to link entire albums here, but this album sounds just as vital all these years later:
Highlights include I’ve Been Out Walking, Odd Said the Doe and Our Discussion.
Inspired by the thread over here:
I’m inclined to let the IAU do their thing. Science is all about changing our understanding of the natural world, so I’m not too sentimental about whether or not we call Pluto a planet, per se.
OTOH, these J’s make a compelling counter-argument:
“Video unavailable.” I guess the counter-argument wasn’t compelling enough.
Region locked, maybe? It still plays for me, but I’m in the U.S.
Anyway the song is “Pluto” by 2 Skinnee J’s. They favor planet status for Pluto, most likely because it supports their particular narrative metaphor more than for any sound scientific reasoning, but they are quite emphatic.
I started to post a link to the lyrics, but they’re frankly kind of dumb when read out of context. They’re not necessarily a great band, but they are a fun listen. I have a bit of a critical soft spot for them because I was once immensely entertained by one of their live shows. I don’t know how else to describe it other than as a spectacle, but of the very best kind – over the top, but not overdone, if you will.
This brightened my day:
I didn’t know Ray Manzarek plays keyboards for “Craigslist.”
And I believe Al is operating the camera.
