Today I learned about Thomas Sankara. Thanks!
I absolutely hate the question of why do you want to work here. I’m sure some could come up with legitimate answers, but for me it’s generally been “I need money”.
I don’t want to work here. I want to work on my music, at home, with my cats. Duh.
They just want to see how good we are at faking Proper Workplace Face.
I have to say that I really did want to work in my current position. I was 52 when I was hired and that was the first time in my entire life that I was actually excited about a workplace, so once in about 35 years?
i actually loved my work, my job and the position i held.
i simply hated the people i worked for.
that goes for my clients and the boss (owner of the company).
It does happen. The current job i have i wouldn’t say is my dream job, it’s not really what i want to be doing for a living (project management) but i’m decent at it, the work environment is good, and i believe in the company’s vision to doing quality work that isn’t at people’s expense.
When i interviewed for it i had the best interview ever, and despite having zero experience they took a chance on me and i’m grateful for the opportunity to have grown. Though i would like to at some point pivot to something that speaks to me on a more personal level but for now i feel like i still have a lot more learning to do
I’m jelly. I can’t seem to get hired for anything, much less a manager role for a company that isn’t evil.
I had one job a long long time ago that I was happy to do. We transported adoptable dogs from kill shelters in the south to adoption centers in the north. I was on the road for 3 days a week, staying in hotels, but I didn’t have to do the driving, just coordinating logistics and evaluating the pups. When we got to a city I would walk around and find a Thai or Indian restaurant. PetSmart sponsored the charity (Rescue Waggin) but after a few years they took it over, fired us all and quietly shut it down.
SMBC has a sub-genre of job interview comics. I do believe they’re all kinda commie!
… an emergent and powerful nation that has no fixed home or name
I submit that it has a name, and that is “The Divine Right of Kings”.
If we’ve had enough of the 1938 references, may I suggest that there’s a big mood about that seems a lot like London in 1067.
And start taking back our money.
