To be fair, a spanish politician won the Madrid elections with the motto: “Communism or Liberty”
(she styles herself after american “posture” politics of the alt-right)
It’s a running joke that every time anything goes terribly bad in madrid (like when she let die 2.8k elders in hospice care during the first days of the covid pandemic) the usual reply is “well, at least you have FREEDOM”.

Yeah, I mean, what kind of freedom can someone who wants to dismantle your healthcare, job insurance and securities?
Just today this… being was at a conference with all the heads of the spanish CA’s and she stormed out of the meeting huffing around because someone SPOKE IN BASQUE (which, you know, is a cooficial language and so there is a high chance someone will greet you, same as galician or catalan)… but hey, FREEDOM, AMIRITE?
